Making an appointment

• We are open Tuesday to Fridays between 10am and 4:30pm. Please select a date from the list below and enter your details in the Booking Request form. Regrettably we are unable to take group bookings.
• IWM staff will contact you to confirm your booking. Please do not make travel plans until you hear from us.
• To amend or cancel an existing request, or make any other enquiry, pleasecontact us stating the request reference if you have one.

What you can view

• You may order up to 10 separate items from our collection of archives, museum archive records, printed material, photographs, sound recordings and e-resources. Use our Collections Search to identify the material you would like to see.
• Microfilm material, including the War Artists Archive (WAA), is available for consultation. If you require access to the originals in the WAA, please contact us at researchroom@iwm.org.uk to enquire.
• Requests to view 3D objects or artwork must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Please note that it might take longer than this depending on the object you have requested. If we can accommodate your request, we will offer an appointment on a Monday. Please email us at researchroom@iwm.org.uk to enquire.
